Introductory Note:
Who are the most important people of the last One Thousand years, i.e., from 1000 AD to 2000 AD? The phrase ‘important people’ are defined as ‘a person /s who changed the destiny of the world; defined the great stream of human history and altered our perceptions.
Let us remember them.
——————-
Napoleon was a war hero of France. The French people were awed by his heroism in war. The time came in 1799, and he seized power in France.
Soon he set out to conquer the world. He wanted to build a federation of free governments across Europe with himself as the Monarch. Thus, he sowed rudimentary seeds for establishing what we call today as the ‘European Union’. He treated soldiers well, promoted them based on their talent, not class.
Many thinks of Napoleon as a Tyrant. Finally, he met his waterloo at Waterloo Belgium in 1815. Lost the war. He ran away and spent his last six years of life in exile on the British isle of St. Helena. He was exiled so that he could not disturb the peace of the world.
Personal greed, establishing French authority in Europe and hatred against the British makes him a unique character of the Millenium.
