Who are the most important people of the last One Thousand years, i.e., from 1000 AD to 2000 AD? The phrase ‘important people’ are defined as ‘a person /s who changed the destiny of the world; defined the great stream of human history and altered our perceptions.
Let us remember them.
——————-
Thomas Jefferson was a Founding Father, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States. He championed individual liberty, founded the University of Virginia, doubled the nation’s size with the Louisiana Purchase.
But for his thoughts, beautiful writings, the world would have seen few more bloody revolutions leading nowhere. Jefferson was a lawyer by profession. He was a pioneer of American architecture.
As the president he made greatest difference. He was a slave owner, but apposed slavery. He was the culmination of many aspirations of a new-born nation. When he was 33 years old, he wrote: “all men are created equal”. Natural Law, the right to life and the pursuit of happiness became the new world blueprint.
And these remains as an everlasting goal for all democracies around the world and according to Aristotle “democracy” is a perverted form of rule because it is often synonymous with mob rule.
