I was thinking of time. It is the same time you can objectively see in your watch. A mechanical instrument called watch became our understanding of time! The thought that had entered in my mind in my deepest possible sleep was – whether the time subjective or objective concept? Please note: I am not saying whether it is Relative! I am not also trying to examine ‘A Brief History of Time’! That is plain stupidity!
Our culture, mythology, religion and the society taught us to view the ‘Time’ objectively. The individual and his views on time were least important. Look at these examples:
- We all go to school and come back at the same time. We all reach school@ 8 AM and return at 4 PM. Hence time is not subjective.
- Similarly the office goers, cine goers, medicines that the doctors prescribe (5 days, say), mobile phone talk time, interest calculations – and every activity in nature including God became objective. Rather these very things made time objective.
- If it is 6 am in the wrist watch – the duty time for the sun – The sun rise time!
The issue here is how can time be objective? Does time has any appearance? Does a watch mean time? Does the path of the sun mean time? Does the time exist on moon/other planets? Beyond the planet earth does the time has any existence / meaning? If time is objective then it must exist in all watches and in the path of the sun? Does it?
Let me put it the other way – there are two people, one of them is in deep sleep and the other is wide awake. Can the time exist for both? If it is objective, then it must exist for both. The man who is asleep has no time. It does not exist for him. Can we say then the time does and does not exist at the same time? Can water be both cold and hot? One thing is for sure…it is not Relative! To ask differently, does the time exist for a man who is dead? If time were to exist for a dead man, then he is no more dead!
In my understanding, in my world there is no time. There is simple existence. Everything simply exists. Let us imagine, as we cross the moon, time ceases to exist. In a way time is a meaningless concept even on earth too! We have one time in India and other in the US! There is no time either on Mars or on Jupiter or on the Saturn. Imagine the existence of time on the sun, and beyond! In this beyond is silence, quietness and existence. There is no time! Everything simply is!
God is the Supreme Being. This is what we believe. He is beyond all. Yet we imagine Him in time. His incarnations are subject to time. For example, the Hindus believe that their God will re-incarnate to punish evil towards the end of Kaliyug! If you subject Gods to time then they are mortals. All Greek, Roman and Egyptian gods are dead; Thousands of years old burial sites are being unearthed every day across the globe. All I can see there is that their gods, their beliefs, their culture are dead, non- existent because they believed in time! Time kills gods too.
Time is a fiction created by man. And the same man is swallowed by his own creation. The theory of relativity considers time as a relative concept. When the time became fiction, so is relativity. We, in our eagerness to understand ‘light’, began measuring the distance between the Sun and the Earth. We concluded that it takes 8 minutes for the sun rays to reach earth! Light is constant. Earth is constantly spinning. Light has not travelled. It is very much there. Is it not fiction to measure the time taken by light to reach earth as 8 minutes?
The truth is that time is neither objective nor subjective. It does not exist. If it does then water in a mirage is true! Our minds are unable to comprehend our own existence beyond time. We cannot think beyond time. Our minds will say it’s impossible! We became the effects of our own hypnosis. The illusionist should not become a part of his own illusion. We became the victims of fiction called time.
When the time does not exist – as we know the time i.e., Past Present and Future – what then exists? I said it is simple ‘Existence’. Can I equate this to ‘present’? I think yes. In other words, only the present exists. Past & Future are figments of idiotic imagination. This includes ‘The Brief History of Time’. I am writing in the present; reading in the present; bathing in present. Every activity or inactivity (such as sleeping) can only exist in present. Even the Supreme Being or the God (if there is one) can exist only in present. It looks ridiculous to say God was here yesterday or He will come tomorrow. How can God exist yesterday? If He were to exist yesterday then he is dead. If He were to exist tomorrow, then he is unborn. The God can only exist in present. Present is Existence and life is always in the present.
In this manner time cannot exist. I and the God can only exist in Eternity. We both are! Anyone who realizes this has achieved the Jesus hood; the Mohammad hood and the Buddhahood.
