Goggles are the primary protectors intended to shield the eyes. They form a protective seal around the eyes, and prevent dust / objects or liquids from entering under or around the goggles. They are also referred to as the sunglasses.
There many idiots who wear dark sun glasses at night! The purpose of dark sun glasses is to protect the eyes from the intensive ultra-violet rays of the sun. They will act as a protective cover to the eyes. But I always wondered why do these idiots wear them at night? In our country (India or Bharat – I am confused!) there are scores of idiots who wear these glasses even at night. There is no sun. All electric lights are functional to dispel the darkness; and yet these glasses are worn. Why do they wear? I can only guess. They wear it for fashion; for making a style statement; to look more attractive.
In all Hollywood / Bollywood cinemas too it is shown prominently – for example the movie ‘Matrix’. Some idiotic hero wears these dark sun glasses in a night club while dancing. These idiots ape him! Don’t you think, it is a blind man dancing? Night clubs are dimly lit. Unless you closely observe, you cannot see things clearly. I wonder what these people see through these dark sunglasses in a club at night!
I was driving to my village around 5 am. It is a wintery December morning and the weather is very chilly. I was driving at my own comfortable pace. Many vehicles were overtaking me. A casual glance at the overtaking vehicle – the driver was wearing dark sun glasses on a wintery December morning! I could hardly see anything clearly except the well-lit road. I wonder, what is it that he sees while driving on a dark winter morning. May the almighty bless him with safe driving.
Today at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal – 3 I saw quite a few apparently well-educated idiots loitering about in the terminal with dark sun glasses. It was beyond my imagination as to what they must be thinking of themselves.
It is essential to know when to wear these dark sun glasses. They are meant to protect the eyes. Using them as a fashion statement is a secondary issue. These are the very people who will spend thousands on these sun glasses without knowing their utility! What should we call these great idiots?
I must state – these idiots exist in both sexes. You will find them in abundance in the malls, cinema halls, airports, offices, and night clubs – you name it. You name the place – you will invariably find them. They seem to be omnipresent!
There is no law against wearing dark sun glasses at night. But wearing dark sun glasses at night especially when driving can harm the society. You will be driving the vehicle blind resulting in accidents. Hence there must be some law to prohibit it. God has given beautiful eyes to us all. Why hide them? By hiding them we are ‘Blinded by the Eyes”.
