CHEATED BY THE CONSTITUTION – 4 – JUSTICE

Any student of history knows how the priestly class, the Church, and other so-called representatives of God cheated people in the name of God and eternal life. This is exactly the method chosen by the Constitution of India in the name of justice. They said it is the foundation pillar and gives all citizens social, economic, and political justice. In reality, it gives nothing. Justice has no definition; there is no agreement on its definition. There can ever be a definition. Everyone has their own sense of justice. Justice has become subjective in all its forms, i.e., social, economic, and political. We do not agree with the judgments given by the Supreme Court. We do not say anything, for criticizing the Supreme Court or its judgments amounts to contempt of court, and the threat of being branded as anti-national!

Justice is more like heaven. We will have to die to know heaven. To know justice, probably we may have to die! Each of us has a different picture of justice. No two human beings agree on justice. No two Supreme Court justices too agree about justice! We generally say that what the majority of Supreme Court justices say is justice. But what I see is that there is no unanimity about justice among the judges; there is no single view of it. How do you think a common man will ever understand justice?

Do not feel proud of our Constitution. It gave a ‘biryani’ recipe on a piece of paper. But a recipe does not fill our stomachs! In this way, ‘We, the people’ of India are cheated by our own Constitution. A good and honest constitution will not offer ‘justice’ on a piece of useless paper. Justice has thus become a mirage, an illusion. Just as no one can ever extract oil from sand, similarly, no one can get justice through our Constitution. As per our constitution justice always lies in future.

We need justice in education, employment, health, housing, and food. It is better to be a dissatisfied pig than a satisfied man who believes in our Constitution. We are fooled by the Constituent Assembly then and by the Constitution forever!
