We proudly claim that our nation is the true example of Unity in Diversity. How can unity be there in diversity? A nonsense phrase created by some idiot. Unity in Diversity is as good a phrase as the ‘Round Square’ or ‘Square triangle’!
Unity in Diversity—the phrase itself makes us feel good. We are diversified people but united. How can this be possible? They may appear to be united because there is no option, no alternative. Given an option, no one would want to stay united. The USSR became many countries. Sudan became two. Every family in India is being split into two every minute. Their unity could never stand!
To understand even more clearly what I am saying, let me reverse the phrase: ‘Diversity in Unity’. This may mean rubbish. It may not give out any meaning, but so is the phrase ‘Unity in Diversity’. An utterly meaningless phrase. We have been taught from childhood about this phrase and therefore we cannot imagine anyone criticizing this phrase.
It looks romantic to read that India is a land where people from different cultures unite. Unity in Diversity. Birds of a feather flock together. Diversity can never exist if there is unity. If it is unity, then it cannot be diversity. What rubbish we were all taught at school!
You call this our constitution? I feel that We the People of India are cheated by their own Constitution.
