In 2018 we witnessed many accidents and the details are published. Tamil Nadu, unfortunately, continues to have the highest number of road accidents. In all, nearly 200,000 people died in road accidents in India in 2018. Whether it is less or more, whether these accidents could be avoided – that is all a different story. The cyber city Hyderabad recently added another pride to its rich history in the shape of Biodiversity Flyover. A very romantic name indeed! It’s a flyover where the government has spent millions of taxpayer’s money to make it. I have not been on that flyover, but well, it’s a good move to ease city’s congestion. On Saturday i.e. 23rd November, there was a ghastly accident where a speeding car on biodiversity flyover, lost control, hit the barricade, jumped in the air and fell from the flyover. Fortunately, the driver (wearing his seat belt) survived with serious injuries. A life saved. A lady passer-by underneath the flyover – died due to car fall…an instant death. Mysterious are the ways of death!
Since the unfortunate accident, every major newspaper – the Times of India, Indian Express, Eenadu etc., – began publishing reports stating how unsafe these flyovers and roads are and they proceeded to conclude how and where the government has failed. The concerned ministers have immediately instructed the municipal corporation, authorities, road safety experts, engineers and the entire government machinery to increase the safety mechanisms on flyovers. This immediate reaction from the government is excellent and appreciated.
The newspapers that write articles and conclude where and how the government has failed to protect the lives of the citizens – their analysis and conclusions are utter bullshit. They have an opinion about everything! I guess it is their right to freedom perverted. I was laughing, not at the person who died, not at the accident but at these reports. The biggest joke I have ever read in 2019 – unsafe roads, unsafe biodiversity flyover, unsafe PV Narasimha Rao expressway, unsafe Delhi- Noida expressway and in a way every road is unsafe in India!
Plastic is bad. World governments banned plastic. When I buy groceries the shop attendant refused to give a plastic carry bag. He says either you bring a bag or take them in hand. I don’t know since when the human being found that plastic is bad. Recently Mr. Rakshit a plastic engineer explained why plastic is bad in common man’s language. Re-usable plastic, reusable materials and finding alternatives to plastic as plastic is bad. Bullshit. It is all big bullshit analysis and a stupid threat. Plastic is not bad. It is we who are bad as we do not know how to use plastic. We are bad…plastic is good. I am sure you understand my point. We are a bunch of idiots. Human being is the biggest idiot and the worst animal in the world. We don’t know how to use a specific thing. Our inability of not knowing how to utilize a specific thing doesn’t make it bad!
Same is the case with Biodiversity flyover, Noida-Delhi expressway, road safety mechanism, Delhi-Agra expressway and the newspaper articles. The moot question is – do we know how to drive? Not a single newspaper has mentioned at what speed, the idiot who met with the accident on the Biodiversity flyover, was travelling. CCTV footage shows over-speeding. Clearly, he doesn’t know how to drive. We have no driving education. These people get driving licenses without knowing the duties of a license holder…like our B.Tech and other bachelor degree holders. Nothing happens either to government or to other agencies. It’s their life which is at stake. Its time people should be more cautious & serious about safety. They do not wear helmets or seat belts; nor follow traffic rules; nor stop at the red traffic signal. Everybody before the steering wheel imagines themselves to be another Michael Schumacher! It is like a stone in the hands of a mad man. We gave driving license to all. Whether licensing process is good or bad …no…let me not go there please. They are up for sale, anyone can buy. We don’t know what the mad man will do. Either he breaks his own or head of others. Either way it is dangerous. Similarly, giving license to drive, leave alone the people who drive without licenses, is like a stone in the hands of a mad man. Many more Biodiversity flyover type accidents will happen and will continue to happen. I am very happy… we the citizens of India are getting what we deserve.
