THE UNFULFILLED DESIRE OF LORD KRISHNA

Lord Krishna had an unfulfilled desire? Is it possible that the God can have an unfulfilled desire? Prima facie, it is impossible. But the truth is that Lord Krishna died with one unfulfilled desire. According to Hindu scriptures Lord Krishna died after being struck in the foot by an arrow from a hunter named Jara. He died with one great regret.

Lord Krishna, it is said got 8 wives named Rukmini, Satyabhama, Kalindi, Lakshmana, Bhadra, Nagnajiti, Jambavati, and Mitravinda. Each wife gave 10 sons!

 Following are the names of 80 sons of Lord Krishna from these wives:

  • Rukmini: Charu, Charu Deshna, Charudeha, Charuchandra, Bhadracharu, Vicharu, Sudeshna, Sucharu, Charugupta, and Pradyumna.
  • Satyabhama: Bhanu, Swabhanu, Subhanu, Bhanumaan, Prabhanu, Atibhanu, Pratibhanu, Shribhanu, Bruhadbhanu, and Chandrabhanu.
  • Kalindi: Kavi, Subahu, Shanti, Purnamas, Vrush, Somak, Veer, Bhadra, Shrut, and Darsh.
  • Lakshmana: Prabal, Bal, Oja, Sah, Aparajit, Prabodh, Simha, Gatravaan, Mahashakti, and Urdhvag.
  • Bhadra: Satyak, Shoor, Arijit, Vaam, Jay, Aayu, Sangramjit, Praharan, Bruhatsen, and Subhadra.
  • Nagnajiti: Kunti, Vegavaan, Aam, Veer, Vasu, Ashwasen, Vrush, Shanku, Chandra, and Chitragu.
  • Jambavati: Vijay, Krutu, Samba, Sumitra, Dravin, Shatajit, Purujit, Vasuman, Shasrajit, and Chitraketu.
  • Mitravinda: Harsh, Kshudhi, Anand, Vruk, Mahash, Paavan, Anil, Varddhan, Vanhi, and Grudhra.

We know very little about these sons. According to Shrimad Bhagavat, each wife of lord Krishna bore him one daughter. However, Shrimad Bhagavat gives limited or no information about the them.

These 80 sons of Lord Krishna could not live up their father’s name. The dream of Lord Krishna पुत्रादिच्छेत् पराजयम् i.e., Putrād icchet parājayam – one should desire defeat from one’s son remained unfulfilled!
