Mother’s Day is celebrated, internationally, with all the love, emotion, affection and respect. This is the day we all try to remember our mothers, and the sacrifices they made to bring us up. People buy special gifts to mothers. Social media is overflowing with Mother’s Day greetings and wishes. Mother’s Day delicacies, cakes and special gifts are prepared to celebrate this occasion. So far, so good.
I feel that Mother’s Day celebration is but self-deception, contradiction and represents the heights of utter stupidity that a man can ever achieve. This description is not only applicable to all mothers & children but also to all those idiots who celebrate it. Please remember:
Every mother was a daughter and
Some daughters are mothers.
When a daughter is born, the same mother will say, ‘Why not a son and what is the sin that I have committed to deserve a daughter’? It the first issue is a daughter, then the disappointment is even greater! The mother is looked down upon by the society! Usually, when a daughter is born, she is simply either buried or thrown away or killed. Sita’s character in the revered Ramayana is an excellent example. I ask, where is the mother’s love? The mother of Sita did ‘sacrifice ’her daughter at the very birth! In other words, no mother wants to have a daughter. In some cases, mothers who do have daughters keep them without education and as a domestic help. Marriage is yet another chapter. It is a universal fact (with few exceptions) no mother-in-law will lover her daughter-in-law. Then why the hell are we celebrating Mother’s Day?
When it comes to property and inheritance, in spite of having laws protecting women, courts and the concept of equality, no mother will ever wish to give a share in the property to her daughter. Property could be either her own or her husbands. These very people desire and in almost in all cases give property only to sons. Where is the Mother’s love and sacrifices that deserves Mother’s day celebration?
Every woman becomes a mother, not because she wants to become, because it is the law of nature. Every woman becomes a mother, not because she wants children, because they are the natural products of sexual intercourse. Ask any woman today – becoming a mother will be last in the list of her priorities. The famed character Kunti wanted pleasures, not children in Mahabharata. Mother Mary wanted all the pleasures of Vatsayana’s treatise that too without losing her virginity! In the mythology & history I have not found the concept called Mother’s Love!
‘A daughter is born’
Begins a world of worries.
Finding the fittest groom is the biggest worry.
Once wed will she be happy?
Or will she weep?
Daughter is another name of grief.
No sooner a daughter is born
She becomes a curse for her mother.
No mother wants a daughter
Hence, daughters are avoidable disaster.
Having brought into the world
Every mother agonizes of her daughter,
“Will she give birth to worthy sons?
“Will the daughter give her husband pleasure?
“If not a kunti, will she at least be a Gandhari?”
I have turned the libraries of the world upside down to find one right reason that deserves Mother’s Day celebrations, failed successfully. All I could find was misplaced notions & sentiments associated with Mother’s Day. The act of giving birth does not make a woman mother. Every animal gives birth without becoming a mother! I am yet to find an instance where a woman has gone beyond the act of giving birth!
